In response to Jeff Cartwright (Reader's Forum, Aug. 8): A child has a right to be taught (in school) about the possibility that he or she descended from a man and woman God created (as taught in the Bible that government leaders use in taking an oath of office) rather than from an ape. The child may not be taken to church or given this information by parents. Yes, I guess it is OK if the child is taught about the signs of the zodiac in an astronomy class from a neutral position.
