Utah camp notes

QB debut

Quarterback Brett Ratliff, a transfer from Butte College (Calif.), is expected to make his practice debut today.

The junior hasn't been issued gear or been allowed to participate in camp until his associate's degree was officially posted. It cleared Monday and Ratliff will likely join the Utes this morning. He'll compete with freshman Kevin Dunn and junior Danny Southwick for the backup job to starting quarterback Brian Johnson.

Depth chart

Utah released an updated depth chart Monday. Brent Casteel has joined Justin Walker on the top kick return team, while Bryan Borreson is now sharing No. 1 kicking duties with Dan Beardall. Borreson is seeing limited action after re-aggravating a lingering groin injury.

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said a "heck of a battle" is shaping up at stud linebacker between Malakai Mokofisi and Kyle Brady.
