Leo Hans Nielsen 1915 ~ 2005 Our sweetheart, husband, daddy and grandpa, Leo Hans Nielsen, passed away August 10, 2005. Leo was born in Salina Utah, July 6, 1915, to John D. Nielsen and Caroline Marinda Mickelsen. In 1935, Leo moved to Salt Lake City to attend Henager Business School. Here he met his eternal love, Leola Smith. They were married March 12, 1938, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and have since been inseparable both working and playing. Leo was an outstanding salesman and accountant. As an active member of the LDS Church, he served in Sunday School, MIA, and as a ward clerk for many years. For the last 18 1/2 years he has worked faithfully in the extraction program as well as doing genealogy and performing temple work regularly. His six children will miss his love and his constant assistance in building and repairing: Carolyn (Dick) Freeman, John Leo (Patsy Ann) Nielsen, Nola Jean Chase, Gale H (Cheryl) Nielsen, Adele (Patrick) Casaday, and Loren Lee (Debra) Nielsen. He is also survived by 25 extra special grandchildren and 30 wonderful great-grandchildren, with more on the way. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, a granddaughter and great-grand-daughter. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Salt Lake Olympus First Ward, 4100 South Camille Drive (2450 East). Viewings will be held Friday evening 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the ward as well as from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
