Ileene Smith Rasmussen 1924 ~ 2005 COALVILLE - Ileene Smith Rasmussen, 81, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 in Logan, Utah. She was born January 26, 1924 in Coalville, Utah, the youngest child of Verron Smith and Bernett Blonquist Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and two sons, Carl Brent and Kenneth Bruce as well as her parents and three brothers and two sisters, Weldon, William Seth, George, Edna S. Spriggs, and Ruth S. Wilde. Ileene eagerly anticipated the reunion with her family. Ileene's growing up years were in Coalville, where she attended school, graduating from North Summit High School. She married Carl A. Rasmussen October 11, 1944. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple May 21, 2003. Carl and Ileene lived for over 50 years in California where Carl worked as a building contractor, and in later years Ileene worked as an escrow officer for United California Bank. Upon Carl's retirement, they bought and operated an orange farm in Oroville, California where they lived for several years. They moved to Coalville in 2000 to be nearer to family. Carl passed away in 2002, leaving Ileene with no immediate family. She was very grateful to be in Coalville where she was surrounded by supportive extended family and dear neighbors and friends whom she loved and appreciated. Many were inspired by her example of enduring many trials and heartaches without bitterness or complaint. Ileene loved reading, sewing, crocheting, and was a beautiful quilter. When her health no longer permitted her to attend church in the Hoytsville Second Ward, she enjoyed doing a great deal of humanitarian sewing for the Relief Society. She loved gardening and in the summer her beautiful flowers were the envy of the neighborhood. She enjoyed having people drop in to visit, and especially appreciated and loved her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2005 at 12 noon at the Hoytsville Second Ward Chapel. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Coalville Cemetery next to her husband and two sons. Email condolences to the family at www.walker-mortuary.com
