PROVO — Three different players scored in three 25-minute periods during BYU's annual Blue White women's soccer scrimmage Thursday at South Stadium.
In the intrasquad scrimmage, the Blue team scored all three goals, led by freshman Katie Larkin, who put the ball in the net after a throw in from Brooke Thulin in the first period of action. Eight minutes later, sophomore Bobbi Tillotson put the Blue team on top 2-0.
The second period saw both squads with multiple scoring opportunities, but neither could capitalize on the numerous chances. In the final 25-minute period, sophomore Natalie Nate gave the Blue team a 3-0 advantage with a goal that hit the crossbar and bounced inside the net.
All three of the Cougars' goalkeepers — Ashley Smith, Natalie Evans and Erika Woodbury — played, switching during each period.
"This is a good opportunity for us to evaluate the team in a realistic game situation," said head coach Jennifer Rockwood. The team's home opener is set for Sept. 2 against Weber State. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at South Stadium.
