A man known by police as the "Acne Bandit" has been sentenced to almost 12 years in prison after admitting to robbing nine Salt Lake City businesses in more than 15 days in July 2003.

Wade Ross Wadley, 42, was sentenced Monday to serve 140 months and to pay $1,776 in restitution for the combined amount of money he took during the robberies.

Wadley's sentence included an enhancement for use of a firearm. Two robbery victims said they believed they saw a firearm, but one was never recovered. Wadley said he kept his hand in his sweatshirt pocket pretending to have a gun. In most robberies Wadley had ordered the cashiers to get on the ground and to stay there for several minutes.

Several victims identified Wadley in a photo lineup because of the acne scars on his face.
