SALEM — City residents can "Celebrate the Family" during Salem Days Aug. 5-13. New activities this year include the Cardboard Duct Tape Boat Regatta and the Gravity Grand Prix.

Saturday, Aug. 6: mud volleyball, 1 p.m. at the Salem Rodeo Grounds, 500 W. Arrowhead Trail.

Tuesday, Aug. 9: Cardboard Duct Tape Boat Regatta at Salem Pond, 150 W. 300 South.

Wednesday, Aug. 10: baby contest, 9:30-noon, Salem Elementary, 85 S. 200 West; Gravity Grand Prix, 6 p.m., west of Knoll Park, 200 S. 200 West.

Thursday, Aug. 11: senior citizens dinner and show, 6 p.m., Main Street Church at Center and Main.

Friday, Aug. 12: miniature parade, 6 p.m., around Knoll Park, 150 W. 300 South; family dance, 8 p.m., at new ball park, Salem Canal Road and 600 East; tractor pull, 6:30 p.m., at the rodeo grounds.

Saturday, Aug. 13: breakfast, 7 to 9:30 a.m., at Knoll Park, free; grand parade, 10:30 p.m., begins at 200 W. 300 South, winds around Salem Pond to Main to 100 E. Center at the ballpark; activities, crafts, entertainment, food booths, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the downtown ball park, 100 E. Center; quilt show, 11-4 p.m. at Sweetbriar Cove, 200 E. 400 North; barbecue beef dinner, 5-7:30 p.m. at the Main Street Church; Salem Days Pageant, 8 p.m., Lions Park, 100 W. 300 South; fireworks at 9:45 at Lions Park (following the pageant).
