Abuse not merely physical

SHARE Abuse not merely physical

I would like to thank Lois Collins (Aug. 4) for her column about abusive relationships. All too often, people assume that abuse means inflicting physical pain. It can run much deeper.

Many parents are abusive without realizing it because they pretend to know what their child is thinking. There needs to be more dialogue. Parents need to learn that children are human beings with real thoughts and real feelings and they can connect with them in a beautiful and healthy way.
