Several fast-food outlets are scaling back

SHRINKING SEATING: Several fast-food restaurants are trimming the fat with new building designs that cut the dining area in half or eliminate it.

PULL UP TO THE NEXT WINDOW: About 80 percent of fast-food meals are takeout, and sales in some of Wendy's pickup-window-only locations have been higher than in the company's traditional restaurants.

DON'T SUPER SIZE ME: Burger King says most of its new restaurants will encompass its smaller design. Wendy's plans to use it in about 15 percent of new locations.
