GRADE B-plus

Offense

Quarterback Brian Johnson, running back Quinton Ganther and wide receiver John Madsen racked up impressive numbers in their second games as starters. The trio helped the Utes eclipse 500 yards of total offense after a shaky start. On the downside, they lost two fumbles.

GRADE B

Defense

The Utes had trouble defending the Aggies early. USU had eight first downs and a 7-0 lead with 13:45 remaining in the second quarter. Utah eventually put the clamps on and made things difficult for USU the rest of the way — giving up just 95 yards passing in the game.

GRADE C

Special teams

View Comments

A 10-yard punt and a 28-yard field goal attempt that was wide left were lowlights, but Eric Weddle raised Utah's grade with a 22-yard punt return and Antonio Young recovered a USU fumble on a punt. Both led to touchdowns.

GRADE B

Overall

It took time, but the Utes finally kicked things into gear. They made big plays on offense, defense and special teams down the stretch to defeat the Aggies for the eighth straight year in the "Battle of the brothers."
