A Midvale man was killed in a head-on crash north of Spanish Fork early Wednesday morning.
Killed was: Christopher Cannon, 19.
Cannon was driving a sports car near Spanish Fork when a passenger car driven by a 33-year-old Springville woman came across the median of I-15 and hit his car about 1 a.m., said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Jeff Nigbur.
Cannon was not wearing a seat belt and was killed instantly.
The woman was traveling south on I-15 when her car crossed the median and sideswiped a sport utility vehicle, Nigbur said. The driver of the SUV wasn't hurt, but the woman's car bounced off the SUV and hit Cannon's car.
A passenger in Cannon's car, 19-year-old Michelle Payne, was out of the car and looking dazed when troopers arrived, Nigbur said.
Payne and the Springville woman were taken by ambulance to Mountain View Hospital in Payson. The Springville woman, who had been wearing a seat belt, was in poor condition, he said.
Investigators believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident, Nigbur said. All northbound lanes of I-15 were shut down in the area while investigators were on the scene, Nigbur said.
