BLUE BOAR RUN
The Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant in Midway will hold its third annual Schutzenfest "Shoot for the Finish Line" 5K run/walk on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 9 a.m.
The race, which will benefit Soldier Hollow, will start at the Wasatch Mountain State Park visitor center. The race is open to runners of all ages and abilities. The Schutzenfest is a traditional European-style shooting party and feast.
Runners can register for the 5K by calling The Blue Boar Inn at 888-650-1400, by visiting the inn at 1235 Warm Springs Road in Midway or online at www.active.com. Registration is $18 before Sept. 24, or $20 on the day of the race.
Runners will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt and will be eligible for a prize drawing including overnight stays, dinners and stuffed blue boars.
SNOWBIRD TO HOST KATRINA EVACUEES
Hurricane Katrina evacuees who landed in Utah will have the opportunity to experience Utah's Wasatch Range at 11,000 feet above sea level Friday.
Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort has teamed up with Sysco Intermountain Food and the Utah National Guard to offer a day of free rides on the resort's Alpine Slide, ZipRider, Bungy Trampoline and Aerial Tram.
The Utah National Guard will transfer evacuees from Camp Williams to Snowbird where they will have free reign of the Little Cottonwood Canyon resort's activities from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. A barbecue lunch on the Snowbird Center Plaza Deck will be provided by Sysco Intermountain Food Service.
Snowbird is currently accepting and matching donations to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund through Oct. 9.
CORRADINI NEW PRESIDENT
Former Salt Lake City Mayor Deedee Corradini has been named president of Women's Ski Jumping USA, a national non-profit organization based in Park City that is seeking to sanction women's ski jumping.
In her volunteer position, Corradini will begin to spearhead efforts toward achieving the goals of WSJUSA, including enhancing fund-raising and awareness for the team and receiving IOC sanctioning for women's ski jumping as an Olympic event by 2010.
WSJUSA will be hosting fund-raising events on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City and Nov. 5 at Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR CAMP
A three-day women's outdoor workshop will be held at Camp Wapiti, located in Settlement Canyon outside Tooele, from Sept. 23-25.
Those attending will learn outdoor skills like fly fishing, horseback riding, shotgun shooting, campfire cooking, reloading, archery and fly-tying, to mention a few of the activities.
Participants must be at least 18 years old to attend. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 100 who register. Registrations will be accepted up to Sept. 18.
The fee is $150 and includes everything except personal items.
