Mardi Gras is moving to Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City is hosting its own version of the famous festival today at the Gallivan Center.
A group of Camp Williams evacuees using donated musical instruments from the University of Utah will headline a Mardi Gras-themed parade starting at 6:30 p.m.
Other bands performing at the event include Royal Bliss, Great Basin Street Band, Back Alley Blues Band, Spencer Nielsen, Salt Rootz, DJ Chopps, and Salt City Saints. Dancers from the Odyssey Dance Theater will also perform, and children can play in an activity tent.
Both the benefit concert and Mardi Gras parade events are free to the public, but donations are welcome. Activities will run at the Gallivan Center from 5-10 p.m.
