LEHI — Trenton Raught threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Springville easily defeated Lehi 33-14 in a game wrought with penalties.
Both teams played with desperation early, and it showed up in poor execution and multiple personal-foul penalties.
After exchanging fumbles, Springville got on the board in the first quarter when Raught hit Brennen Foster for a 56-yard scoring strike.
The Red Devils added their second touchdown when Raught hit Riley Allred for a 21-yard touchdown. The touchdown was set up by the solid running of Daryk Smith, who rushed three times on the drive for 27 yards.
Springville added one more touchdown before the half on a one-yard touchdown plunge by Raught, who finished the first half 6-for-10 for 115 yards and one touchdown, to put the Red Devils up 21-0.
Springville's defense also played an excellent first half, holding the Pioneers to just one first down.
Lehi made a valiant effort to come back, cutting the Red Devil lead to 14 points when Pioneer quarterback Tyson Nolan hit Henrique Silva for a 16-yard touchdown.
Nolan completed 5-of-7 passes on the drive for 42 yards, including two to Silva for 28 yards.
But Springville put the game away when sophomore defensive back Cameron Comer intercepted Nolan and returned it 38 yards for the score.
Nolan and Silva hooked up for another touchdown on a 16-yard pass, and Springville's Smith scored on a 5-yard run to account for the final score.
