WSU spikers fall in Big Apple

NEW YORK CITY — The Weber State volleyball team couldn't keep its New York winning streak going as the 'Cats lost 3-1 to Georgia Southern Friday in the first round of the Long Island Blackbird Invitational.

Weber State drops to 5-5 on the season, one day after picking up a win at St. Francis College in Brooklyn.

Georgia Southern won the match 30-23, 30-26, 24-30, 30-23.

The 'Cats were led by freshman Leah Burmeister who recorded 15 kills and nine digs. Brittney Bisaillon had 16 kills and two blocks. The other of the freshman group Chelsea Biar finished with 11 digs.

Weber State will play two matches today, host Long Island and Bowling Green.
