Obituary: Robert Lynn Putnam

Robert Lynn Putnam 1930 ~ 2005 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Robert Lynn Putnam, peacefully returned to his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, surrounded by his family. Born August 22, 1930, to Ralph A. and Florence Newman Putnam in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bob attended West High School before serving a mission to the New England States. He was proud to have been in one of the last groups of missionaries who served without purse or script. As an active member of the LDS Church, he served in a variety of ward and stake positions. Bob loved to make people happy, delighted in all types of service, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed giving children rides on his electric scooter. He also took great pride in his responsibilities as an LDS Hospital volunteer. Bob was a fire fighter and a small business owner, having developed and run numerous Salt Lake businesses. He is survived by his wife of 51 years; children, Debra (Dave) Nigbur, Lynne (Tony) Douros, John (Denise) Putnam, and Frank Yazzie, Jr.; siblings, Stephen (Shirley) Putnam, Gerald (Valerie) Putnam, Jean (Vince) Brown, Gloria Rodgers, Donna (John) Strong; sister-in-law Renae Putnam; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brothers Ralph D. and Paul A. Putnam, brother-in-law Paul Rodgers, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2005, at 12:00 noon at the Rose Park 1st Ward, 1153 West 800 North, where friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m., or the day of the service from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
