The Utah Department of Commerce announced Tuesday that Derek B. Miller will be the new director of the Utah Division of Real Estate.
Miller has been counsel for the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee since 2002.
Prior to his position with the House, Miller was with Arthur Andersen LLP and managed several real estate-related consulting projects. While in that role he helped reform the FHA loan program and assisted in the implementation of the HUD Enforcement Center and the Real Estate Assessment Center.
Miller is a graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the university's Marriott School of Management.
Miller will be filling the position recently vacated by Dexter Bell, who had led the division for the past 4 1/2 years.
Miller officially began his duties in Utah Monday. The Utah Division of Real Estate licenses, educates and regulates all real estate agents, brokers, mortgage lenders and appraisers.
