VOLLEYBALL: BYU middle blocker Lindsy Hartsock has been selected the Mountain West Conference Volleyball Co-Player of the Week after being named the Buckeye Classic Tournament MVP. This is the second award of the season and third career award for Hartsock.

"This is definitely a reflection on my team," said Hartsock. "When everyone contributes, it's so much easier to be successful."

Hartsock, from Inkom, Utah, led the Cougars to a 2-0 record at the Buckeye Classic in Columbus, Ohio, last week, including a 3-2 upset of No. 14 Ohio State. She shares the honor with Utah's Shelly Sommerfeldt, a 6-1 senior from Orem.

SOCCER: Senior forward Jaime Rendich Beck and freshman defender Jessica Harmon have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Beck, from Canyon County, Calif., tallied two goals and two assists to lift the Cougars to a 3-0 mark for the week., including victories over two ranked opponents. Harmon, a Provo native, led a Cougar defense that allowed only one goal last week (at No. 14 Wisconsin), also only the second goal allowed this season.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: The fall season begins this week for as the Cougars host the annual BYU Invitational Sept. 22-24. The reigning Mountain West Conference champions will compete against athletes from Boise State, Colorado State, Utah, Utah State and Weber State. The tournament begins Thursday starting at 10 a.m.

Matches on Friday and Saturday will begin at 9 a.m. All matches will be played on the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts. Admission is free.

Utah Valley State

SOCCER:Courtney Asay-Robbins has been named named Division I Independent Newcomer of the Week for her performance in last Saturday's 2-1 win over SUU. Robbins scored her second goal in as many games to help lead the Wolverines to the victory. Robbins also was named Newcomer of the Week for the United Soccer Conference. Also, senior forward Carolyn Theurer was named Offensive Player of the Week for scoring her first goal of the season in the 15th minute against SUU.

Utah State

SOCCER: Utah State forward Charity Weston was named the Western Athletic Conference women's soccer offensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday. Boise State goalkeeper Kim Parker was named the Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Weston, a junior from Layton, scored the game-winning goals in both matches for Utah State last week as the Aggies went 2-0 for the week.

VOLLEYBALL: Senior Ingrid Roth recorded a career-high 17 kills and senior Zuzana Cernianska added a match-high 20 kills to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a four-game win (25-30, 30-21, 30-19, 30-19) against Idaho State Monday night. USU improves to 7-6 on the year with the win, while ISU falls to 6-8 overall with the loss.
