SOUTH SALT LAKE — A 16-year-old Granite High School student was arrested by South Salt Lake police in connection with a shooting incident after a football game.
Following Granite High School's game with Canyon View High School Friday, a pellet gun was fired at the visiting team's bus as it was preparing to leave, striking one person. That student was treated and released at the scene by paramedics.
Wednesday, police announced they had arrested the alleged shooter and booked him into juvenile detention for investigation of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.
Prior to the shooting there was an argument between some Canyon View players and some students, said South Salt Lake police Capt. Chris Snyder. Police say they don't know if the arrested teen, a Granite student, was part of that confrontation.
