Obituary: Betty Irene Graham Sloan

Betty Irene Graham Sloan 1921 ~ 2005 Washington, Utah - Betty Irene Graham Sloan, age 84, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah. She was born February 21, 1921, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of William and Rachel Ann Nelson Graham. Betty and William Ernest Sloan were married September 23, 1940, in Salt Lake City, where they resided until 1996, when they settled in Southern Utah. Born and raised in Salt Lake, Betty attended Granite High School. She worked at the Busy Bee, for 28 years and was a past president of the Salt Lake Chapter of the American Oil Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed reading romance novels, watching Days of Our Lives, and bowling. She was the best cook in the world and kept an immaculate home. She was a very kind, gentle, loving, giving woman who was strong in every way. Betty was extremely family oriented, and a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and nanny. She loved animals, "especially cats." She is survived by her: husband, William, of Washington, UT; sons, Raymond (Julia) Sloan, of West Valley City, and Lynn (Jeane) Sloan, of West Jordan, UT; daughter, Rachelle (Loren) Mutchler, of Magna, UT; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grand children; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her: parents; four brothers, Chauncey, Dick, Lyle, Donald; two sisters, Beulah, and Rhoda; and one great-grandchild, Casey. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 4:00 p.m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, with a viewing from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., prior to services, at the Mortuary. Interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT (435) 673-2454.
