And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever. — Moroni 10: 7
I didn't realize the importance of having a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon until I was already in the Missionary Training Center, where I came to understand that I would be testifying of it very much. I started to read it with more intent, but when I left for the field I still did not feel that I had received a witness.
During my first interview with my mission president, I told him of my concerns and feeling of inadequacy. As if he had already been thinking on the same lines, he opened his copy of the Book of Mormon to the 10th chapter of Moroni. I expected him to read verses three to five, but instead, he shared the first two lines of verse seven, which say: "And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost . . . ." I realized then the meaning of the words under the title of the Book of Mormon, which read "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." I then realized its truthfulness understanding how much it helped me to know that there is a living Christ, and that you can always learn more if you keep studying the scriptures and praying, or else you will forget.
I am so thankful to have such a powerful conversion tool with me on my mission, to help me personally as well as many others. — Elder Michael Isham, Guatemala Guatemala City Central Mission
