How refreshing to read the statement of the spokeswoman for H&M, Europe's largest clothing chain. She stated "If someone is going to be the face of H&M. . .it is important they be healthy, wholesome and sound." The clothing chain announced the dismissal of Kate Moss, one of the world's most recognizable models, upon verification of her recent use of cocaine.
At a time when popular culture seems to promote unhealthy, unwholesome and increasingly bizarre behavior, this decision was a hopeful gift. Obviously, Ms. Moss lost a lucrative contract. This change of plan was expensive for the company as well. I express appreciation to H&M for the courage to be consistent and true to that vision.
