America needs cooperation

In view of the recent constant barrage, the diatribes and the shrill voices decrying the inadequate response by President Bush and his team to Katrina, I started reviewing past events to see what leadership qualities the Democrats have demonstrated.

Consider the Korean conflict, the Bay of Pigs, Vietnam — did the Democrats show great leadership in pre-planning, execution and exit strategies? Look at the taking of the 52 hostages in Tehran in 1979. What was President Jimmy Carter's response? Nothing! Where were the great leadership qualities when President Bill Clinton invaded Somalia? Or when the World Trade Center was bombed in 1993?

My point is that there is enough blame to go around. This nation became great by cooperating. Have statesmen become AWOL?
