Big oil greases the wheel

Russ Sonntag (Readers' Forum, Sept. 25) is correct regarding special-interest money having too much influence in politics. However, I think the Sierra Club should be the least of our worries. Exxon-Mobile, Halliburton and other big oil companies, along with myriad big tobacco and pharmaceutical entities, are pumping billions more into lubricating the political process than the Sierra Club could ever dream of.

You may not agree with the Sierra Club, but they do what they believe is right for the United States. Said corporations do what they do exclusively for profit. If you want to fight special-interest money in our government, don't start with a nonprofit interest group.
