U.linebacker suspended

Malakai Mokofisi, a sophomore who started at linebacker in Utah's first three games, has been suspended for disciplinary reasons.

"Malakai's future with our football team is dependent on how his issues are resolved," U. coach Kyle Whittingham said in a released statement Monday afternoon.

No additional details were immediately known.

Mokofisi made 15 tackles in Utah's first four games, including one in a reserve role in Thursday's 38-35 win over Air Force.

Sophomore Kyle Brady started in Mokofisi's place at stud linebacker and finished with six tackles. Brady is listed as the starter for this weekend's game at North Carolina. Freshman Afa Garrigan now holds the No. 2 spot.
