Obituary: Gerald Victor Bohnet

Gerald Victor Bohnet 1937 ~ 2005 Spanish Fork-Gerald Victor Bohnet, 68, died Sept. 19, 2005. He was born April 6, 1937 in Foremost, Alberta, Canada to Victor Emmanuel and Isabel Bohnet. Gerald married Sydna Rae Abbott on March 19, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. He is survived by his wife Sydna Rae, his five children Vicki (Samuelu) Matafeo, Toby (Malou) Bohnet, Darwin (Mandy) Bohnet, Kevin (Lana) Bohnet and "Little" Jerry Bohnet; 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Other family members include James Bandeaux, Danielle Sika and Liz Requilman, their spouses and children. Together with Sydna they opened their home to dozens of foster children that called them Dad and Mom. He is also survived by sisters Donna Hague; June Fox, Jesse Ratcliffe, Nola Hertslet, Dianne Steed and brother Donald Bohnet. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents. Gerald grew up in Canada, received his first degree from Brigham Young University and taught in several high schools in Canada including Banff Composite High School, the family moved to Laie, Hawaii where he taught at BYU- Hawaii until his retirement three years ago. Gerald loved a good science fiction novel or movie, traveling (trains being his favorite), college sports, music, humor, gardening, walking "Shadow," genealogy ( and all of his church callings. The Family would like to express their gratitude to the IHC doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers and staff in the cardiac care unit at UVRMC. Funeral services were held on Sept. 24, 2005.
