Utah County preps of the week

Kacee Hildebrandt

Lone Peak Knights

Class: Sophomore

Sport: Cross country

The numbers: Hildebrandt has already won two meets this season — the Mount Nebo Invitational and the Cougar Challenge at Kearns High School, where she ran the third fastest time ever on the Olympic Oval. Her winning time at the Nebo was 19:33. She also finished 12th at the Murray Invitational with a time of 19:30, which was the seventh fastest time among the 5A athletes. "Kacee works very hard and is loved by her teammates. I'd love to have seven of her," coach Rod Jorgensen said.

Brad Nichols

Pleasant Grove Vikings

Class: Senior

Sport: Football

Position: Wide receiver/defensive back

The numbers: Nichols played a pivotal role last week in the Vikings' first region win in two seasons. He caught a 19-yard touchdown pass late in the game, but his real value came on defense where he recovered two fumbles and picked off two Timpanogos passes. On the season, he has 15 receptions for 316 yards and three touchdowns. He also carries a 3.98 GPA. "Brad is a role model of a student athlete. We look to him as a big-play maker. The example of that would be last Friday night," coach Dale Sampson said.
