Pioneer convention

The annual convention of the International Society Daughters of Utah Pioneers will be Wednesday at the Sheraton Hotel, 150 W. 500 South. A book sale begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by the general session at 10 a.m. Admission is free.

Keynote speaker is author/lecturer Donna Smart, editor of "Mormon Midwife: The 1846-1888 Diaries of Patty Bartlett Sessions," which won the David Evans Handcart award for biography in 1997. With her husband, William B. Smart, she co-authored "Over the Rim: The Parley P. Pratt Exploring Expedition to Southern Utah, 1849-50," which won the Mormon History Association award for best documentary in 1999. In addition to historical work, Smart has also written lessons and curriculum material for the LDS Church.
