UTA getting $7 million for rail, buses and hub

The U.S. Department of Transportation will send approximately $7 million to the Utah Transit Authority for commuter rail, buses and a transportation hub in West Valley City.

Specifically, $2.7 million will go toward the engineering phase of the Salt Lake Commuter Rail Project, which will have seven stations from Pleasant View to Salt Lake City. Also, $2.3 million is slated for a future hub in West Valley City and further engineering and construction of another hub near The Gateway at 200 South and 600 West. An additional $2 million will help purchase five commuter buses.

Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, said his work secured the money.
