OREM — The stage is nearly set for Timpanogos' season-ending showdown for the Region 4 title.

The Timberwolves cleared what should be their last major bump in the road with a 4-0 victory at Mountain View on Thursday, and they now have one game remaining before they will face region-leading Lone Peak next week.

Timpanogos coach Jeni Viernes was pleased to see her team looking like championship contenders against the Bruins.

The T-Wolves scored early and often and never gave Mountain View a chance to compete. Three different players scored goals, and the Timpanogos defense never allowed the Bruins a real chance to score.

"They've been playing much better," said Viernes. "Their passing is a lot crisper and to people's feet. They hold the ball and protect the ball a lot more, so we're happy with that. It's just great towards the end of the season. That's where we want to be, building up to our best."

Dana Oldroyd scored the first goal in the 15th minute, hitting a wide-open shot from 10 yards out.

Stacy Bartholomew scored four minutes later, beating an attempted tackle by a defender and easily beating the goalkeeper.

The two quick goals took the air out of the Mountain View attack, and the momentum never swung back.

Timpanogos could have put several more shots into the net and only narrowly missed several other scoring chances.

Oldroyd almost scored her second goal later in the half when she got open on a breakaway, but she chipped her shot right at the goalkeeper. Malerie Jaramillo sent a long shot off the crossbar seconds later.

Noelle Sanders made a short-range shot early in the second half, but the referee ruled she was offsides on the play.

Megan Richardson finally got the third goal on a corner kick in the 49th minute.

Oldroyd scored her final goal in the 59th minute, beating the keeper to a long through ball for the game's final score.

"Yesterday we ran practice on forward runs," said Viernes. "I think it really helped them to know where to run and where the open space is going to be. We just found those holes today."

Allanna Snowden recorded her sixth shutout of the year in goal for the T-Wolves. Most of the Bruins' shots were long-range attempts that Snowden had no trouble getting in front of.

Mountain View "Didn't get anything real dangerous," said Viernes. "We were in their back every time they got the ball."

Timpanogos will play Pleasant Grove on Tuesday while Mountain View finishes off its regular season against Spanish Fork.
