Obituary: Evan George Rowell

Evan George Rowell "Fweedy" Evan George Rowell, age 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members on September 2, 2005, at home. Born April 11, 1927, in Menan, Idaho, to Arthur and Ida Leona Clark Gray. Served an LDS mission to Alberta, Canada. Served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Met the love of his life, Helen Doris Lovendosky, at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Later married in Sparks, Nevada, on January 12, 1954, solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 12, 1985. Evan was an avid genealogist and family historian, having traced his family to before the Mayflower. He loved to collect books, magazines and newspaper headlines. Loved photography, enjoyed dancing. His greatest accomplishment was raising their 10 children. Survived by Helen, his wife of 51 years; children: Bill (Judy Bailey), Evan Dennis (Yolanda), Darrel (Kim), David (Lisa), Jon and son, Derek, Valerie Kimball and daughter, Jessica, Beckijean (Gene) Stitham, Tammy (Bruce) Jolley, LuAnna (Chuck) Stam, Lisa (Steven) Lopez; 32 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lenore Denna and LeAnna Smith. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bennion Heights 6th Ward, 5775 South 2700 West. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood and Wednesday from 1-1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
