Virginia Lee Ackermann 1/22/1924 ~ 9/5/2005 Memorial services for Virginia Ackermann will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept 8, 2005 at Jenkins Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Prkwy, (10600 So.). She was born in Maysville, Missouri and grew up in St. Joseph. She graduated from Maryville Missouri State Teachers College and taught school for over 45 years. After teaching at the Schofield Barracks in Hawaii for two years, she moved to southern California where she met her husband Fred to whom she was married for 52 years, and she continued teaching kindergarten in the Orange Unified School District. When they retired, they moved to their lakeside home on Lake Texoma in Denison, Texas, where they spent 18 happy years. Virginia had lived in Sandy for the past three years to be near to her daughter. She was an avid bridge player, a member of the St. James Episcopal Church of Midvale, and an active member of her local PEO chapter. Virginia is survived by her only child Virginia (Ginny) and son-in-law Craig Smith, grandsons Jason and Jeremy Smith, and her two sisters Katherine Croghan of Nevada, Iowa and Marian Barger of Denison, Texas in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved her. She joins her parents and beloved husband Fred who passed on before her. The family would like to thank all those who helped with her care and visited her in her final days.
