PROVO — The Crandall Historical Printing Museum, 275 E. Center, will host a public open house and birthday party honoring Benjamin Franklin today from 1 to 9 p.m.
The event will inaugurate a yearlong celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of this founding father and master printer
As part of the festivities, pages of Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac will be printed in the Franklin room of the museum, which exhibits a replica of the printing press used to publish his first almanac. Original documents written by Benjamin Franklin will be on display courtesy of collector Brent Ashworth.
Those visiting the museum will receive a pamphlet filled with Franklin's witty and wise aphorisms, and a copy of his epitaph which he wrote at age 46, long before his death.
Gutenburg Bible pages and a replica of the first 16 pages of The Book of Mormon will also be printed that day.
