The Viewmont High swim teams continued their seasonlong trend of dominating Davis County opponents last week at a tri-meet with Davis and Northridge.

The Viking boys left foes in their wake, easily dowsing Davis 136-24 and splashing past Northridge 122-39. Viewmont's girls were equally impressive, stroking past Davis 112-44 and swimming away from Northridge 120-42.

Combined, Viewmont swimmers won 16 of the 22 boys and girls team and individual events.

Viewmont junior Bear Behrmann racked up the most first-place awards among the boys swimmers. He won two individual championships (50- and 100-yard freestyle) and helped the Vikings win a pair of relay races as well.

Behrmann, Sagen Smith, Cole Stephens and Marshall Milligan teamed to take top honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay.

Smith (100-yard breaststroke), Stephens (100-yard butterfly) and Nathan Adams (500-yard freestyle) also won individual golds for Viewmont.

The Vikings notched another first-place prize as Aaron Wade, Nalu Medeiros, Nick Baker and Eric Kerr beat teammates Bubba Powers, Jason Muelleck, Nathan Adams and Brodie Behrmann by more than a half-minute in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Most of those swimmers also placed in multiple other races for Viewmont, while Andrew Arnold added a couple of second-place finishes. Other Vikes to place included Taylor Mitchell and Billy Balling.

The Viewmont girls team also featured a slew of multiple winners, led by Melissa Manser and Amy Sylvester. They each racked up two individual championships in the 200-yard medley and 100-yard freestyle for Manser, and the 50- and 100-yard freestyle for Sylvester. They also took part in team titles — two relay golds for Manser, one for Sylvester.

Lindsey Spangenberg also won three first-place honors, winning the 100-yard backstroke along with her two team relay titles. Briana Moore helped with two relay wins, while Kelley Bishop was on a winning relay team and came in second a couple of times in individual races.

Others to win races included: Nieko Bird of Northridge, who won the 200-yard individual medley and cruised to a 100-backstroke win by 15 seconds; Davis' Anna Hansen, who won the 200-yard freestyle over a 2-3-4 Viewmont finish by Kelley Bishop, Candace Johnson and Krista Jenkins; Northridge's Chelsea Longhurst, 100-yard butterfly; Northridge's Anna Gray, 100-yard backstroke; and the Davis High team of Sarah Hoer, Jenifer Johnson, Morgan Durtschi and Anna Hansen in the 200 free relay.

The Viewmont swimmers, who participated in their last regular-season meet against Fremont and Clearfield on Thursday (after press time), will head into the Region 1 championships as Davis County's best hope. That state meet precursor will be held on Feb. 1 at the Layton Surf and Swim.

Earlier this season, Viewmont's boys and girls teams swept the City Championships, besting Bountiful and Woods Cross, and then cruised to team titles in the Davis District championships in early December.
