Marion Lester Pettit Jr. 1933 ~ 2006 M. Lester Pettit Jr. passed away peacefully in his home Jan. 24, 2006 after a valiant struggle with ALS. Born October 6, 1933 in Salt Lake City. Utah. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Luanna Pettit, father, Marion Lester Pettit, and mother, Evelyn LaVella Parke Pettit. He lived in Yakama and Richland, Washington with his family during the years of World War II. He returned to Salt Lake City and attended East High School and the University of Utah receiving his BAs in both Fine Arts and Architecture. Lester was a brilliant architect leaving a legacy of uniquely designed homes, churches and businesses throughout the world. He dedicated most of his life to the Boy Scouts of America, working with and teaching countless young men. He achieved the Silver Beaver Award. In his later life, his greatest joys were attending the temple and doing genealogy work for his loved ones which will bless the lives of his ancestors and progenitors eternally. A deep expression of gratitude is extended to all who gave of their time and loving compassion during Lester's illness, but especially to his angel neighbors, Abel and Wendy Davis, whose unending tender care was given in the highest form of pure service and love. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, at the Valley View 5th Ward, 2245 East 3900 South. Friends may call prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 am. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
