House of Bread, 2005 E. 2700 South, invites community members to participate in a bread bowl taste challenge.

The bakery, specializing in all natural made-from-scratch breads, sandwiches and other goods, will be hosting the taste challenge Super Bowl Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants are invited to sample unknown bread slices of House of Bread products and compare them to other brands of the same flavor. For example, the event will pit House of Bread Honey Whole Wheat against Earthgrains Extra Fiber Whole Wheat Bread and Oroweat Honey Fiber Whole Grain Loaf and House of Bread's Grandma's White against Wonder Bread and Oroweat Country White.

"While consumers may be drawn to House of Bread's products initially because of the nutritional benefits, they tend to come back for more because the healthier products are even more flavorful and delicious," said Lynne Aoyama, owner of the bakery.

All participants will receive a free round loaf of Honey Whole Wheat or Grandma's White made with unbleached, unbromated flour. The round loaves will make bread bowls for dips during the next day's big game. The results of the taste challenge will be posted in the bakery, on the Web site, and a news wire will be sent out.

Aoyama opened House of Bread in 2001. All House of Bread recipes rely on fresh, high-quality ingredients, such as the high-protein berries from Montana that are ground into flour daily at each House of Bread location, Aoyama said. For more information about House of Bread visit
