ADNA, Wash. — Members of the Adna Ward, Centralia Washington Stake, recently raised $13,217 for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Foregoing some Christmas gifts, the members purchased more than 500 gift cards to a well-known national retailer for families in the Ocean Springs Ward, Gulfport Mississippi Stake. The idea began with a full-time missionary couple in the Adna Ward who learned about the damage from relatives in Mississippi.
"It's been an amazing experience," said Heather Uitto, Relief Society president of the Ocean Springs Ward. "Aside from all the material things we have received, more than anything else, it's the thought that there are saints out there praying for our recovery."
