Obituary: James Sherwood Butterfield

James Sherwood Butterfield 1917 ~ 2006 James Sherwood Butterfield passed away January 28, 2006 at his home from causes incident to age. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He was born June 23 1917, in Herriman, Utah to John Edward Butterfield and Gladys Eliza Hanson. He married Gwendolyn Bowen on September 1, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. Gwendolyn preceded him in death on September 17, 1986. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as an elders quorum president, a bishopric counselor, a high councilor, and in many other priesthood and auxiliary positions. Sherwood was employed at the Draper Egg Producers Association in Draper for 25 years, then as an insurance agent with Prudential Life Insurance for 18 years, retiring in 1980. Following his retirement, he served two church service missions associated with family history and member locator services. Sherwood is survived by his four children, Clinton (Cathy), Judy Funk (Alan), Cloyd (Lynn), and Cleon (Marci); he is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; his two younger brothers, Preston (Betty) and Woodruff (Donna). He is preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Glenn (Melva). Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Herriman First LDS Ward Chapel, 13100 South, 6000 West. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Wednesday 6-7:30 p.m. or Thursday at the ward chapel from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1950 East.
