Alta High Senior Sydney Anderson has been named the Gatorade State Volleyball Player of the Year. The 6-foot senior will play at the University of Utah next season after helping the Hawks to a fifth-place finish at the state tournament.
A volleyball player is selected from each of the 50 states and one player is selected from those athletes as the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year. Anderson is now a candidate for that as Utah's representative.
Anderson is a four-year starter and first-team all-state player the last two years. She led the Hawks with six assists, four blocks and four digs per game.
