Maxine Alger 1925 ~ 2006 After a valiant battle against peritoneal cancer, Maxine Louise Jones Alger died in her home on Oct 1, 2006. Her two kind, loving sisters, Jean Drone and Gail Sweigart, and her children were by her side. Maxine was born in Elko, Nevada on December 22, 1925 to William and Beatrice Jones. Shortly after her birth her family moved to Winnemuca, Nevada where she lived until moving to Salt Lake City in 1945. She attended Stevens Henager Business College. It was during this time that she met Ross Alger. They married on Nov. 24, 1948 and remained so until Ross' death in 2000. Maxine will be missed by her children Julie (Ted) Zimmerman, Don (Shari) Alger and Jill (Kevin) James. Her 11 grandchildren, Rachel (Mitch) Buzzetti, Amanda (Ron) Burrows, Ted, Ross, Nick Zimmerman, Clay, Teresa and Natalie Alger, Cody, Talus and McCall James will miss Gram's warm smile and optimistic attitude. Presley, Blake and Ella, her great grandchildren, will have to remember Gram through stories and photographs. A Memorial Service to celebrate Maxine's life will be held on Oct. 11, 2006 at 6 p.m. in the University Park Marriot Hotel, 480 Wakara Way beginning at 6:00. Family and friends are invited to attend. An open microphone will be available to all who wish to tell a story or express thoughts about Maxine. The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for their support and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice or the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
