Barbara S. Jones 1926 ~ 2006 Our beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Barbara Lorraine Sorensen Jones, passed away at age 80 on the morning of 15 November 2006, at her home in Midway, Utah. She was born in Brigham City, Utah on March 31, 1926 to Arlando Peter and Emeline Louise Monk Sorensen. She grew up in Brigham City and later lived with her grandparents in Spanish Fork, Utah. She attended Box Elder High School in Brigham City. She met her husband, Hyrum Lhomond Jones, while working at the Bureau of Reclamation in Spanish Fork. They were married in Reno, Nevada on October 24, 1953, and were later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in 1959. After their marriage, they relocated to San Mateo, California, where they lived for nearly 20 years and raised their children. In 1976, they moved back to Utah and settled in Provo. While there, Barbara and her husband served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Deseret Industries. Barbara described this experience as one of the highlights of her life and stated it was an uplifting and healing time. In 2006, they moved to Midway to be near family. Barbara was a prolific painter and filled her house and those of her children and grandchildren with beautiful paintings. She also filled their lives with music, as she played the organ and string bass, and sang, especially in duets with her husband. She especially enjoyed caroling on Christmas Eves, and performing in the Hee-Haw shows in St. George, Utah, where they often spent the winter months. She is survived by her husband and two children, Tauna Lee Berry (Russell), of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Duane Lhomond Jones (Colleen), of Midway, Utah; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Blair and Norris Sorensen; and two sisters, Jean Bench and Lou Tillotson.
