A headline Oct. 31 said, "Undervalued homes? Not S.L." It was followed by a comment by a lady who had recently moved to Utah from Dallas, Texas, "How in the world are people (in the Salt Lake area) affording these homes when the income here is less than Texas?" That is a good question. Utah workers' wages have not in any measure risen to accommodate the higher cost of homes.
What is ironic is that many people got really upset at the price gouging by the oil companies but seem to not care about the price gouging in the real-estate market. And the price gouging in the real-estate market will have a much deeper and longer negative effect on our lives.
