Following a tip from the FBI office in Salt Lake City, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced the arrest of a man and woman on investigation of the production, distribution and possession of child pornography.

The couple was arrested in Moncton, New Brunswick, early Wednesday. Officers seized several items, including computer equipment. A 14-year-old girl was removed from the home and placed in the care of Child and Family Services, according to a news release.

Stockwell Day, minister of public safety, said Thursday that the Canadian government will not tolerate the exploitation of children.

"Those who choose to engage in this heinous and illegal activity will pay the price," Day said in a news release.

Day thanked the Mounted Police's partners in the United States for their dedication to keeping children safe.
