Plan on at least a full day. Consider an overnight stay if you want to enjoy some Sonoma/Glen Ellen hospitality. If you hike all 15 miles in the park, you'll need a rest.

Location: About 10 miles north of Sonoma, Calif., on Arnold Drive, which parallels Highway 12.

Hours/seasons: The museum in the House of Happy Walls is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except holidays. Seasonal park hours are posted.

Cost: Free after $6 parking fee

Activity options: Hiking, biking or horseback riding in season.

Camping: Available right across the road at Sonoma Valley Regional Park.
