Utah report card

GRADE B—

Offense

The Utes netted 474 yards and 26 first downs. They had no turnovers and averaged 6.4 yards per play. A loss on downs inside the BYU 6 proved to be costly, however.

GRADE B—

Defense

Utah did well in spots, but a couple of ill-timed penalties and an inability to stop the Cougars down the stretch led to the outcome. BYU finished with 27 first downs.

GRADE B

Special teams

Louie Sakoda had another solid outing by averaging 50.3 yards per punt and picking up a first down on a fake. He made a 24-yard field goal but missed a 41-yarder.

GRADE B

Overall

Utah nearly pulled the upset. The Utes, however, just didn't quite get the job done. An "A" for effort, but a grade lower because of the final score in the big rivalry game.
