A 9-0 run to open the second half helped the Utah State women's basketball team to a 67-61 victory over St. Mary's on Monday night at Moraga, Calif.
Senior forward Brittany Phillips led all five USU starters in double-digits with a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds, while fellow senior forward Brittany Hagen hit some timely field goals, including some key 3-pointers. Senior guard Camille Brox was a defensive spark and iced the win with a pair of free throws late in the game.
The win helped Utah State (2-2) match its best record through four games since the 2004-05 season.
WESTMINSTER 89, SOUTHERN VIRGINIA 51: Westminster moved to 6-4 overall on Monday night in Behnken Field House.
The Griffins took advantage of playing the Knights on the third game of a long road trip as Westminster saw every player on its roster score. Shannon Evans lead the Griffins with 26 points.
Westminster will travel to play a NCAA Division II opponent Dixie State College on Friday night in St. George.
