A woman was in critical condition Friday following an early morning auto-pedestrian accident. Although the driver in the incident was not arrested for the accident, she was sent to jail for a number of other problems.

The 21-year-old victim was crossing the street at the intersection of 400 South and 700 East just after midnight when she was struck. Although the woman was in a crosswalk, initial reports from witnesses were that the woman was crossing against the light, said Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Bedard.

The woman driving the vehicle that hit her, however, did not have a valid license and initially gave officers a false name, he said. The woman, 24, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for outstanding warrants and investigation of a few new charges.
