I just read your editorial (Dec. 29) on UVSC, and I am shocked and appalled that the Deseret Morning News would approve of such a bad move by the state. Utah has four universities, and we don't have enough money to fully fund all the programs that they require. It wouldn't make sense to stretch the limited funds even further. It is not the state of Utah's or the Board of Regents' responsibility to ensure that everyone in the state be able to get a master's degree within a 40-minute drive of their home. If they allow this, what is next? CEU and Dixie? Snow?
It shouldn't be about what benefits the politicians in Utah County; it should be about what is best for the state.
