EUGENE, Ore. — The BYU women's basketball team concludes its nonconference season today as the Cougars (9-3) take a five-game win streak on the road to face Oregon (8-3).
Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. MST at McArthur Court, where BYU has yet to post a victory. The Cougars are 2-7 in their overall series against the Ducks.
Both teams are averaging just under 63 points a game, and both boast a pair of double-digit leading scorers.
BYU is led by junior guard Mallary Gillespie (12.8 points per game) and senior center Dani Wright (12.3), whose per-game rebounding average of 6.3 is tied for team-high honors with reserve guard-forward Shawnee Slade.
With a 4-2 home record so far this season, Oregon is paced by senior forward Eleanor Haring's 14.6-point scoring average, followed by reserve Taylor Lilley (11.4). Senior forward Jessie Shetters leads the Ducks in rebounding, averaging 9.2 boards a game.
The Cougars open their Mountain West Conference slate with two road games — Jan. 6 at Air Force and Jan. 10 at preseason conference favorite New Mexico — before returning to the Marriott Center on Jan. 13 for their MWC home opener against Wyoming.
