OGDEN — A teenager was shot in an apparent drive-by shooting, and police are looking for the assailants.

Police learned Tuesday that a 17-year-old was treated at McKay-Dee Hospital for a gunshot wound to his shoulder, said Ogden police Lt. David Tarran. The teen, who has a gang-related tattoo on the back of his neck, was interviewed and admitted only to being shot; he did not cooperate with police otherwise, Tarran said.

Witnesses, however, told police that the teen was seen running from an area near the 2600 block of Quincy Avenue around 2 p.m. as a black sedan carrying two Hispanic males sped away. Witnesses also reported hearing three to five gunshots.

The teen's mother later took him to the emergency room, where he was treated and released. Tarran said doctors did not remove the .22-caliber bullet from the boy's body.

Several rounds were collected from the scene and police inspected a home that had a few bullet holes on the outside, but nothing remained to identify the shooters, Tarran said.

The victim, he said, is a known gang member and police believe the occupants of the sedan were also. An investigation is ongoing.
